Thomas Frank’s Tottenham future in doubt after West Ham defeat

Thomas Frank’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is in serious doubt following Saturday’s shocking 2-1 defeat at home to relegation-battling West Ham United.

According to the Independent, the club hierarchy are considering whether or not to allow him take charge of the upcoming Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham went into the game against West Ham on the back of one win in six Premier League games (D2, L3).

That horrendous run of form stretched into the FA Cup, where they were eliminated by Aston Villa, marking their earliest exit from the competition in decades.

The London derby was a chance for Frank and his troops to get back to winning ways, but a last-minute winner from Callum Wilson threw a wrench into those plans.

West Ham initially nudged ahead inside the opening quarter of an hour via a deflected Crysencio Summerville effort.

Tottenham responded just after the hour mark with a thunderous header from Cristian Romero, but a scramble in the box allowed Wilson to poke home a winner in stoppage time.

That defeat left Spurs languishing in the bottom half of the table and extended their winless streak to five games in all competitions.

Frank should be sacked before Dortmund clash

The defeat to West Ham capped a miserable week for the Danish manager, who could easily find himself out of a job before the Dortmund clash.

Frank made an impressive start to his Tottenham spell but has been in freefall over the past few months, overseeing just two wins from his last 13 Premier League games in charge (D4, L7).

The board has backed him throughout this downward spiral, but they can only protect him for so long, especially with the fans turning on him.

The mood within the fan base has reportedly turned from frustration to anger, and Wilson’s late winner has only made the situation worse.

A section of the fan base chanted “you’re getting sacked in the morning”, which is all the indication he needs to know that the supporters have turned against him.

Further meetings are expected in the coming days to discuss his future, but Tottenham need to sack Frank if they want to salvage something from what has been a miserable campaign.
