Three strikers Tottenham could look to sign in January

Tottenham Hotspur need a lethal striker up top, with Dominic Solanke struggling for fitness alongside summer loan arrival Randal Kolo Muani.

Solanke has been underwhelming since his big-money move to North London last summer, but his ankle is now the main problem, while Kolo Muani arrived injured and is yet to get going.

Even though Richarlison has found his groove and is back to his best form, Tottenham still need firepower.

Spurs have been left looking blunt up top, and manager Thomas Frank will be desperate to rectify the issue in the January transfer window.

With that in mind, read on as we look at three strikers Tottenham can sign to plug the gaping hole in the centre-forward position this winter.

Samu Aghehowa (FC Porto)

FC Porto starlet Samu Aghehowa has netted five goals in eight appearances this term for the Portuguese giants, taking his tally to 32 goals in 53 outings for the club.

The 21-year-old is a powerful centre-forward with a keen eye for goal. He can be the focal point Frank desperately needs in his set-up.

There are still aspects of his game to refine, but Aghehowa is a top centre-forward prospect who can lead the line for Spurs for years to come.

The main problem is his €100 release clause. Also, Porto might be reluctant to let him go in the middle of the season.

However, if there is any chance Spurs can land the former Atletico Madrid star, the club must pounce. The Spain international can become one of the best strikers of his generation.

Richard Kone (Queens Park Rangers)

After a breakout campaign in which he bagged 21 goals in 50 outings for Wycombe Wanderers, Queens Park Rangers took the punt on Richard Kone, and the gamble has paid off.

Kone has scored four goals in eight appearances and has won over the fans with his ability to put himself about.

QPR boss Julien Stephan said (via the BBC), “It’s all the commitment with the team-mates when we have the ball, when we don’t have the ball, how he’s able to run and how he’s able to give some space for the other players around him.

“How he’s able to defend, how he’s able to press the opponent.”

The Ivorian is worth keeping an eye on. He could be an excellent pick to lead the line and deliver the goods for Spurs.

Kaio Jorge (Cruizero)

Kaio Jorge is quietly putting together an excellent season in the Brazilian top flight, and the young striker may be ready for a return to Europe following an ill-advised stint at Juventus.

The 23-year-old is currently the top scorer in the Brazilian top flight with 15 goals and six assists in 25 outings.

Kaio is restoring his reputation after flopping at Juventus following his way-too-early switch from Santos as a teenager.

Now more mature, back to his best, scoring goals week in and week out, this might be the time to pounce for his services.

The fact that Juve took a chance on him so early is a positive sign. He will be eager to prove himself in Europe and earn himself a slot to shine for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
