Tim Sherwood says he will keep Tottenham in the Premier League if offered the job

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has once again ripped into interim head coach Igor Tudor, with the club now staring down the barrel.

Tottenham’s survival bid took another massive hit over the weekend when they were thrashed 3-0 by fellow relegation strugglers Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

West Ham United’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa helped Spurs remain outside the drop zone by a point.

However, defeat to Forest handed Tudor and his troops a harsh reality check on the back of a spirited 1-1 draw against Liverpool and a surprising 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Tottenham now have seven games to salvage their campaign, and Sherwood believes he’s the right man to steer the club away from the abyss.

When asked if he’d go in if offered the job or if it’s too late, Sherwood told Sky Sports: “I don’t think it’s too late. I would keep them [Tottenham] in the Premier League.

“I believe that someone with common sense keeps them in the Premier League.

“They have the quality to be able to do it. You have to get them feeling good again. You have to get the confidence in the group.”

Sherwood’s idea on how to stop Tottenham from relegation

Sherwood went on to detail how he’d go about helping Tottenham avoid relegation.

“You need to keep the threats in the team. They have to work hard, and you have to tell them there’s dirty work to be done.

“You play a little bit more direct. You come forward together, and you go backwards together, but they need to be organised.

“It’s not complicated. You drill them every single day, 11v11, staying exactly where their positions are.

“Stay in your positions. Keep a clean sheet first and foremost. If you can’t win the game, you don’t lose it. Keep them organised.”

This isn’t the first time Sherwood has thrown his hat in the ring, although it comes after reports claiming Tottenham are considering Tudor’s future.

The club could part ways with the Croatian manager in a desperate attempt to retain their Premier League status.
