Tottenham Hotspur have added Facundo Buonanotte to their shortlist of summer transfer targets (Daily Mail).
Spurs are in the market for a playmaker with Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison set to miss a chunk of the coming season.
Tottenham failed with a move for Morgan Gibbs-White, who has now signed a new contract at Nottingham Forest, forcing the North London side to turn to Buonanotte.
The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City from Brighton & Hove Albion, has a contract that runs till 2028 and won’t be easy to snap up.
Buonanotte scored five goals and created seven big chances in 31 Premier League appearances last term (only 14 starts).
Compared to Lionel Messi by former manager Carlos Tevez, Buonanotte is a talented playmaker who needs playing time and consistency to prove his mettle, and he could find it at Tottenham.
The Argentine international would be an exciting option for Tottenham boss Thomas Frank to have.
He can play behind the striker, opening up defences for the attack. He also has a keen eye for goal.
Spurs must go all in to land Buonanotte
Tottenham should pull out all the stops to make this deal happen. The club should be trying to beat competition from Borussia Dortmund to seal his signature.
Buonanotte might not yet be the finished article, but his adaptability and creativity make him an ideal project for Frank to mould.
North London could be the perfect stage for him to sharpen his decision-making, add consistency, and blossom into one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking threats.
Even if the Messi tag is overstated, his flashes of vision, close control, and willingness to take risks show he belongs at this level.
For Spurs, this is a chance to secure a player who can contribute immediately while developing into a long-term star.
