Tottenham attacker impresses, deserves more time in the team

When Tottenham Hotspur signed Lucas Moura in the January transfer window, the fans were rightly overjoyed given the Brazilian’s reputation and track record.

Mauricio Pochettino had been searching for a wide player with pace to add an extra threat in the Spurs attack and it appeared that the South American star was the missing puzzle piece.

However, Moura has had to bide his time at Tottenham, with other players preferred to the new signing in the side’s attack.

Pochettino opted to play Erik Lamela from the start against West Bromwich Albion, with the Argentine having a limited impact and spurning some good opportunities.

Moura was introduced towards the end of the game as Tottenham searched for a winner and the former Paris Saint-Germain made an immediate impression.

West Brom were forced into making fouls on the Brazilian in dangerous areas, while the winger also looked the most likely to the avenue to success.

Tottenham should be excited about Moura’s potential to make an impact next season after a full pre-season at Spurs – but Pochettino needs to give him more of a chance to show what he is capable of.
