Tottenham enter race to sign Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt

Tottenham Hotspur fans are holding their breath as they await a decision regarding the future of manager Ange Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, the transfer team has started moving to secure crucial reinforcement ahead of next season.

Spurs could use additions all over the pitch as they bid to make this utterly abominable 2024/25 Premier League campaign a distant memory.

From all indications, Fabio Paratici is returning to the club to handle transfers amid a boardroom shake-up. He has not officially started work, but things are already in motion.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Tottenham have entered the race to sign Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt.

However, they are not alone. He also has interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.

Froholdt has been a Spurs target since last summer. The club pursued him to no avail.

It looked like the North Londoners would move on. But, according to the report, they remain interested in his services.

Froholdt enjoyed a fruitful season, registering three goals and two assists as Copenhagen lifted their third league title in four years.

The 19-year-old posted stellar numbers, recording 2.56 progressive carries and 1.28 successful take-ons per 90.

He registered 3.04 tackles, 1.44 interceptions, 1.76 blocks, and won 1.60 aerials per match.

A box-to-box midfielder by nature, his tireless engine makes him an invaluable asset.

Danish publication Ekstra Bladet referred to him as a ‘running monster’ after he ran over 17 kilometres in 120 minutes versus Heidenheim in February

This came just after he ran 12.4 kilometres against FC Midtjylland days before.

He has a remarkable upside, and European clubs are ready to take a punt on the young talent. Tottenham are in the mix.

Tottenham need experience, not more potential

Tottenham already have two promising teenage midfielders, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, both of whom will need significant minutes to develop.

Even Pape Matar Sarr, though more experienced, is still polishing the edges of his game. Adding Froholdt, another 19-year-old who needs nurturing, only creates a logjam in midfield.

Spurs don’t need another project. They need proven, experienced professionals who can deliver consistency and leadership right now.

Tottenham would be wiser to focus on maturity and balance. The roster does not need more young players who may never fully get their chance to shine.
