Tottenham Hotspur put on an attacking masterclass on Wednesday night, beating Rochdale 6-1 at Wembley to move into the FA Cup quarter-finals.
While the likes of Fernando Llorente and Son Heung-min have grabbed the headlines, young Spurs defender Juan Foyth showcased a quiet confidence in the win.
The Argentine centre-half moved to Tottenham in the summer and is highly regarded by Mauricio Pochettino.
Foyth is behind the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order at Spurs, but has been given the chance to feature in a number of cup games.
The Tottenham centre-half put in an assured performance in the win over Rochdale and was rarely troubled as the hosts romped to a comfortable victory.
Foyth’s ability on the ball was again clear to see, with the South American centre-half impressing with his distribution for Spurs – despite the snowy conditions.
It is clear to see that the Argentine has a bright future in the game and Tottenham boss Pochettino will be pleased to be able to hand the youngster more experience and time on the pitch.
While Foyth will have to bide his time to be considered as an option in the Premier League, his development offers an additional option at the back for Spurs.
The Tottenham fans were impressed with the South American’s showing against Rochdale and were quick to take to Twitter to praise him during and after the game.

Like the look of Lucas Moura. Happy for Llorente, son scoring again. Lamela been good since coming back, Foyth looking promising and hopefully KWP gets more game time.

I like Foyth, but what makes jan & toby special is knowing when not to play out. He’ll learn #thfc

I think Foyth looks more comfortable on the ball with every game. His long-term potential could be a big factor in MP’s thoughts over Toby’s future. #TOTROC #COYS #THFC

People throw around the words star and potential. And when talking about Juan Foyth you can do so. Reads the complexion of the game so well and his composure can’t be taught. He’s still young and has great mentors in Jan and Toby to become one of the very best! #COYS

VAR is a farce hanging around for decisions is wrong bring it back when fully working use for goal line decisions only.
