Tottenham fuming after Palace pull out of deadline-day move for Manor Solomon

Tottenham Hotspur were left furious on deadline day after Crystal Palace pulled out of a move for Spurs forward Manor Solomon at the very last minute, according to the Daily Mail.

Tottenham had agreed terms with the Eagles, with both parties having even filed a deal sheet to facilitate the transfer’s completion more quickly.

However, in a dramatic twist, Palace suddenly walked away from the agreement, leaving Tottenham stunned and fuming over the collapse.

Spurs had worked late into the evening to facilitate Solomon’s exit, but were left red-faced. The North London club reportedly wants changes to the Premier League’s deal sheet.

According to the report, Tottenham want to present a case to the league that once a deal sheet is filed, it should become legally binding, compelling clubs to honour their commitments.

The idea, though, is unlikely to gain traction with other top-flight sides.

With the Palace move dead, Spurs quickly redirected Solomon’s future, arranging a season-long loan to La Liga side Villarreal instead despite interest from Olympique Marseille.

The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2023, but injuries and inconsistency have plagued his time at Spurs.

After a serious knee injury derailed his debut campaign, Solomon revived his career on loan at Leeds United.

The Israeli international (46 caps) was outstanding in the Championship, contributing 22 goals in 39 games.

Leeds wanted to keep him permanently, but Spurs blocked the deal, believing he still had a role to play under new boss Thomas Frank.

However, despite being given opportunities in pre-season, Solomon failed to convince.

With Tottenham strengthening their attacking options this summer, the winger was surplus to requirements.

While Villarreal now offers him a chance for minutes, Spurs remain deeply frustrated at how Palace handled the failed deadline-day deal.
