Tottenham in four-way battle for Arnaud Kalimuendo

Tottenham Hotspur are among four clubs reportedly in the hunt to sign Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to RMC Sport.

The 23-year-old forward is drawing strong interest from across Europe after a prolific 2023/24 campaign in Ligue 1, where he netted 17 goals in 33 matches.

Kalimuendo finished as the third-highest scorer behind Ousmane Dembele and Mason Greenwood, catching the eye of Tottenham. He scored 18 in all competitions.

The former Paris Saint-Germain academy product joined Rennes in 2022 for €20 million and has two years remaining on his current deal.

The French club are open to a sale this summer if suitors meet their €30–35 million valuation. Rennes are already making contingency plans by identifying potential replacements.

However, Spurs are not alone in the chase. Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig, and Villarreal are all credited with interest, with the possibility of more clubs entering the fray in the coming weeks.

For Tottenham, the move could provide much-needed support and rotation for new manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs need an alternative to Dominic Solanke after his underwhelming debut campaign in North London.

The North Londoners spent £65 million to sign Solanke from AFC Bournemouth, but his return of nine Premier League goals forced the club back into the market for a centre-forward this summer.

Also, with Richarlison on his way out of the club and Son Heung-min entering the twilight of his career, Kalimuendo’s instinctive movement, pace, and pressing ability could suit Frank’s system.

Kalimuendo brings both experience and untapped potential.

His ability to play across the front line could also provide tactical flexibility, especially as Spurs prepare for European competition this season.

Whether Spurs firm up their interest with an official bid remains unclear.

But with Rennes open to business and Kalimuendo entering his peak years, this is one to watch as Frank reshapes his attacking options.
