Tottenham in ‘intensive talks’ to sign Bayern forward Mathys Tel

Tottenham Hotspur are in ‘intensive talks’ with Bayern Munich for attacker Mathys Tel, according to Florian Plettenberg. Spurs are looking to get a deal over the line in the coming days.

Tottenham desperately need a boost in the transfer market, and signing the young Frenchman would make quite the addition to Ange Postcoglou’s side.

Spurs are in a rot, winless in seven Premier League games. They have only won one league match in 10 attempts, leaving them in 15th place.

Injuries have decimated Tottenham this season, and top brass must respond by strengthening their ranks in the winter transfer window.

Signing Tel on loan will be a masterstroke for Tottenham, especially if it is on a permanent deal as Fabrizio Romano claims. He is the perfect long-term replacement for Son Heung-min, dovetailing between the left wing and the centre-forward position.

Like Son, he has an eye for a shot. He is always ready to pull the trigger, although he hasn’t mastered the art like our South Korean captain. He is still a fascinating top-class prospect that can explode in north London.

The pacy and strong attacker received praise from the France legend Thierry Henry, who described the Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Man Utd target as “extraordinary” two years ago.

Tottenham must move mountains to secure Tel this winter and potentially add another striker into the mix.

Earlier today, news broke that Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen pulled out of the race to sign Spurs striking target Evan Ferguson.

Tottenham need to bring him in, alongside Tel, to compete with Richarlison after Dominic Solanke picked up an injury, ruling him out for six weeks.

Both men have something to prove. They will be hungry to prove their mettle in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, potentially forming an exciting partnership up top.

This might be asking too much, but Spurs also need defensive reinforcement for the next six months.

As much as Tel and Ferguson bolster the attack, the defence is brittle with two oft-injured centre-halves – Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. Postecoglou needs centre-backs from the transfer market.
