Tottenham injury eases Pochettino headache – Spurs surely set for 3-4-2-1 vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur are in Premier League action today in a mouth-watering clash against fellow title hopefuls Liverpool at Wembley.

Spurs are set to be without a couple of key players, with Dele Alli picking up an injury on international duty and set to miss the clash against the Reds.

Tottenham have rotated between a 3-5-2 and 4-2-3-1 system this season, with Mauricio Pochettino largely changing his formation to fit in the players he has had available.

However, with Alli out of contention, Son Heung-min surely not going to start after his international exploits and Erik Lamela coming back from injury, options are limited in attacking midfield.

As such, this could well see Tottenham persist with the three-man defence that played against Watford, with the 3-4-2-1 set-up of last season, rather than the 3-5-2 of this term, adopted.

Spurs need two central midfielders, not just one like at Vicarage Road, and as such the starting XI to face Liverpool on Saturday afternoon may well look like this:

Predicted Tottenham starting XI vs Liverpool (3-4-2-1): Vorm; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Dembele, Dier, Davies; Eriksen, Moura; Kane.
