Tottenham join race for German teenage sensation

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing teenage Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp to the club, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs recently sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old, who is reportedly also being monitored by London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arp came to international attention when he starred for Germany’s under-17 side in the European Championships back in May, notching seven goals during a run to the semi-finals.

This season, he made his debut for Hamburg shortly before jetting off to India for the under-17 World Cup in October, where he again starred with five strikes before his team were knocked out by Brazil in the quarter-finals.

Since his return to club duty, Arp has been given a more prominent role in the senior setup and rewarded manager Markus Gisdol’s faith by coming off the bench to score in the 2-1 defeat to Hertha BSC.

Last weekend he was handed his first start and again found the back of the net with a delightful turn and finish for the third goal in his side’s 3-1 triumph over Stuttgart.

Arp has previously cited Tottenham star Harry Kane as one of his inspirations and the similarities between the youngster and the England forward are hard to ignore.

It is little surprise that he is being touted with a move to the Premier League and that interest is only expected to intensify if his development continues at its current rate.
