Tottenham line up sensational swap deal for Manchester United ace

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a sensational swap deal with Manchester United which would include Red Devils striker Anthony Martial, according to the Evening Standard.

The 22-year-old has found himself out of favour somewhat at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho, making just 18 league starts during the recently concluded campaign.

However, the France international could soon be in line for regular first-team action, with the report claiming Spurs are keen on landing the frontman this summer in a switch that would see defender Toby Alderweireld go the other way.

The north west outfit have reportedly been keeping tabs on Tottenham’s defensive ace’s contract situation this year, with the Belgian failing to reach a new agreement in north London.

Spurs value one of their most prized assets sits at around £45 million, a fee Manchester United have also pinned on Martial.

Mauricio Pochettino is urgent to bring in some more fitting competition for Harry Kane this summer, with Fernando Llorente seemingly not fitting the bill.

The Standard believe that the Red Devil may well be Tottenham’s answer, and have labelled the attacker as the Lilywhites’ priority target during the transfer window.

However, Spurs will have to battle it out with Chelsea if they are to land their man ahead of next season – with the Blues also in the market for some reinforcements up top.

Antonio Conte’s men have struggled for goals this year, despite the signings of both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

However, although the west Londoners are also circling, Tottenham find themselves in a much stronger position compared to that of one of their fiercest rivals – with Pochettino able to offer both Martial Champions League football next term as well holding a highly desirable asset in Alderweireld.

If Spurs were able to land the Old Trafford outcast, who is on around £65,000-a-week, it would undoubtedly make them one of the most feared attacking sides in the Premier League.
