Tottenham Hotspur have announced on their official website that Ryan Mason will be interviewed on the Wembley turf at half-time of the Premier League clash with Newcastle United tonight.
It will be the first time that the Spurs fans will get a chance to hear directly from their youth-team graduate since he left the club to join Hull City in 2016.
Mason was a firm fans’ favourite during his time at Tottenham, with the central midfielder coming through the club’s youth ranks to star in the first team.
Mauricio Pochettino placed his faith in the homegrown hero, who duly helped start the period of success that Spurs have enjoyed under their current manager.
Mason’s called time on his playing career earlier this year, with the Tottenham favourite unable to overcome a fractured skull that he suffered playing against Chelsea in 2017.
Since then the 26-year-old has returned to Spurs to start his coaching qualifications and looks to have a bright future on the sidelines – hopefully in North London.
For Tottenham supporters it will be a chance to show our support for Mason, who never took a backward step in a Spurs shirt and epitomised the values the club stands for.
It is important that Tottenham respect former players and keep icons like Mason involved in some capacity – the supporters will surely show this by their response at half-time against Newcastle.
