Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose will not join Schalke on loan on transfer deadline day, with a potential switch to Paris Saint-Germain in his sights instead, according to The Sun.
The England international is second choice at Spurs behind Ben Davies and has been blighted by injuries over the last 12 months.
With talk of a potential loan move to Schalke pedalled by Sky Sports this morning, the latest report has suggested that Rose wants to leave Tottenham – but for PSG instead.
The French champions have been linked with the Spurs man in the past.
Realistically, whether Rose ends up at Schalke, PSG or somewhere else, Tottenham cannot be left with Davies as the only left-back in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
With less than five hours remaining in the transfer window and little transfer talk about Spurs signing anyone, the defender will surely be made to stay at the club until at least January.
Should the window close without Tottenham signing a left-back, Rose agitating for a switch to PSG before the European market closes at the end of August would be a real blow for the club.
In an ideal scenario, the Spurs defender will get his head down and recover some of the form that made him an important player for the North London side before injuries derailed him.
