Tottenham mulling over £15m bid from LAFC for captain Heung-min Son

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a huge decision as they consider a sizable bid from Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles FC for Heung-min Son.

According to The Sun, LAFC have tabled a £15 million offer for the Spurs skipper, and the north London club are seriously considering the proposal.

After a decade of world-class service to Spurs, the South Korean forward is now at the centre of negotiations that could see him leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 33-year-old is still seen as an important part of the squad both on and off the pitch. But there’s a decent chance that he could call time on his Spurs career this summer.

Tottenham have been fairly busy this summer. They’ve signed Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel on permanent deals from RC Lens and Bayern Munich, respectively.

They also paid £5 million to sign Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, but their headline arrival so far has been Mohammed Kudus, who joined from West Ham United in a £55m deal.

Spurs ideally want to keep Son, but LAFC’s bid might be too good to turn down.

Spurs should let Son leave on a high

Son has seen it all in Tottenham’s colours. His decade-long spell has been filled with highs and lows, including a Champions League final defeat against Liverpool and missing out on the Premier League title to Leicester City.

The ‘outstanding‘ winger finally helped the club to end their 17-year trophy drought following last season’s Europa League final success against Manchester United.

Tottenham should allow the winger to leave the club on a high. Son isn’t the same player he was a few years ago. His numbers plummeted last term, picking up seven goals and 10 assists in 30 league games.

That’s a decent return for a regular player. But it falls far below the required standard for a player of Son’s calibre. He also struggled with recurring injuries, so it’s obvious that age is catching up to him.

He’s expected to stay with Tottenham for their pre-season tour of Asia.

But after that, Tottenham should take the bid from LAFC and give Son the chance to say his goodbyes and take on a new adventure abroad.
