Tottenham Hotspur fans and players are still mourning the sacking of manager Ange Postecoglou, but the show must go on.
While the Spurs hierarchy contemplates the man to succeed the Australian tactician, the transfer team will be moving to secure targets for the incoming manager ahead of next season.
Tottenham could use a versatile attacker in the ranks, and rumours claimed the North Londoners had eyes on Bayern Munich ace Leroy Sane.
The German international, who England manager Thomas Tuchel dubbed ‘a machine’, would have been the perfect addition as he is poised to become a free agent this summer.
However, according to Florian Plettenberg, Tottenham are not in the race for Sane. He is considering offers from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Arsenal.
While many will consider it a blow, his inconsistency and hefty salary made him an improbable target for Spurs.
The transfer team needs to look at other options to bolster the right wing and provide competition for Brennan Johnson. Read on as we analyse three of our picks.
Noni Madueke (Chelsea)
Former Tottenham Academy star Noni Madueke has been inconsistent at Chelsea, but the England international looks on the cusp of a breakthrough.
Naturally, Chelsea should be looking to keep him, but the ill-advised Blues will reportedly consider offers for his signature, and Tottenham should be in front of the queue.
Madueke bagged 11 goals and five assists in all competitions. He is always ready to run at his full-back and provides a different threat to Johnson.
The 23-year-old is in the 99th percentile for progressive carries, 94th percentile for non-penalty xG, and 96th for touches in the opposition box in Europe’s top five leagues.
The underlying numbers are stellar, and Tottenham must pounce for his signature if the club can secure him for a decent fee.
Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad)
Staying with left-footed right-wingers, Real Sociedad gem Takefusa Kubo is another attacker who should be on the Spurs transfer radar.
Kubo, like many of his Sociedad teammates, had a poor season. The Basque club will be tempted to cash in this summer, and if he is on the market, Spurs need to bring him to North London.
Kubo is a constant 1v1 threat and can split defences open with his playmaking ability. He also offers something different to Johnson, who is more of a threat running in behind.
Kubo registered seven goals and created 10 big chances last term. Even though his numbers dwindled this season, he is still capable of matching and improving that tally in England.
The former Barcelona and Real Madrid academy product is a talented winger ready to take the next step.
The transfer team should consider making the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium his next stomping ground.
Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United)
West Ham United need to sell to fund a summer overhaul, and they are ready to part ways with Mohammed Kudus. Tottenham need to enter the frame to sign him.
Kudus delivered a sensational debut campaign in England, bagging 18 goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances. A second-season slump cannot negate the fact that he is an excellent player.
Kudus would provide a threat from out wide and is equally adept playing in midfield and leading the line. There are not many with his positional versatility.
The Ghana international would be a brilliant pick-up, especially if they can get West Ham to accept a lower fee than his £85 million release clause.
Spurs can sweeten the deal by giving them Yves Bissouma, who worked with their manager Graham Potter at Brighton & Hove Albion, potentially killing two birds with one stone.
