Tottenham offered chance to sign Bayern star Leroy Sane

Tottenham Hotspur need to strengthen the team to compete in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League next season.

The Europa League champions must reinforce this squad to avoid embarrassment when they try to take on European elites. Signing top-class players should be a priority this summer.

Tottenham have enough bodies in attack but could use a versatile winger, especially if Timo Werner leaves and the club cannot strike a deal for Mathys Tel.

Interestingly, the North Londoners might have a solution waiting in the wings.

Spurs have been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane on a free transfer this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 29-year-old will likely become a free agent when his contract at the Allianz Arena expires at the end of June.

His agent is offering him to several top clubs across Europe after they failed to agree a deal with Bayern, and Spurs are in the mix.

The German international (69 caps) bagged 13 goals and six assists in 45 appearances for Bayern this season, operating primarily from the right wing.

Sane would bring proven top-level pedigree and Champions League experience to Ange Postecoglou’s squad. Pep Guardiola labelled him an incredible player.

Tottenham can entice the former Manchester City striker with Champions League football, and he would be a steal on a free transfer.

He also has Premier League experience and would not need time for adaptation.

Sane can provide competition for Brennan Johnson on the right wing. He carries a different type of threat. He can also star on the opposite flank.

Tottenham fans would be wise to temper expectations regarding this Sane news. His salary demands might scupper any move.

Even though the club can sign him on a free transfer, Sane’s current wage at Bayern is a staggering €288,462 per week, and he will want a pay rise.

The highest-paid player at Tottenham earns around £190,000. Chairman Daniel Levy and ENIC have been cautious when it comes to breaking the club’s wage structure.

Unless Sane lowers his demands, Spurs may not be able to get this one over the line. This eye-catching link could ultimately be more fantasy than feasible.
