Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is on the verge of agreeing a deal to joining Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan, according to Football Fancast.
The Spurs general’s contract has another 12 months to run, with intense speculation that the fans’ favourite could be on his way to the exit door this summer.
Most of the speculation has been around Dembele leaving Tottenham for one of Italy’s top clubs, but supposed lucrative offers from China have also been touted.
The former Fulham man has admitted his future is up in the air but stated recently that he would not join another Premier League club if he does leave Spurs before the transfer window closes.
For Tottenham, replacing the Belgium international will be a massive task.
Dembele has been injury prone and frustrated at times, but his unique blend of skill, creativity and brawn means he is the complete central midfielder.
Tottenham have other options in the boiler room, with Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama available – but both lack the presence of mind on the ball to deputise for the veteran Belgian.
Spurs will need to find a very able replacement should Dembele be sold, while getting Harry Winks fit will be a priority over the summer.
