Tottenham Hotspur take on Leicester City tomorrow in north London after securing crucial wins over Liverpool and Manchester United in the League Cup.
They narrowly defeated Tamworth in the FA Cup before edging past TSG Hoffenheim 3-2 in the Europa League, courtesy of a Son Heung-min brace.
The result against the Germans keeps Spurs in the hunt for a top-eight Europa League slot (automatic qualification to the round of 16), but their Premier League form remains abysmal.
The 3-2 defeat to Everton last weekend was their third consecutive Premier League loss. The Lilywhites have been winless in the league since a 5-0 win over Southampton on December 15.
Spurs are only eight points away from the relegation zone in 15th place, a poor position for a club expected to compete for a top-four spot.
Ange Postecoglou’s men have managed a meagre two points from their last six home league fixtures. In this period, only Southampton have suffered more defeats and shipped more goals.
Postecoglou promised a trophy in his second season, and their exploits in the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League are the only thing keeping him in this job.
The league is long gone. So are hopes of a European finish, but they still need to halt this egregious form and will back themselves to secure a result at home against struggling 19th-placed Leicester.
Head to Head
Tottenham have been the more dominant team in their clashes with Leicester, winning three of their past five meetings.
However, Spurs have not won in their last two league games against the Foxes, drawing the reverse fixture 1-1 in Leicester. Their prior meeting ended in a 4-1 defeat for Tottenham.
Injury News
Tottenham’s struggles can be traced to their injury-ravaged roster. Rodrigo Bentancur and Fraser Forster returned against Hoffenheim, offering rare positive updates, but Djed Spence, Pape Matar Sarr, and Yves Bissouma remain doubtful.
Meanwhile, several players, including Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert, Destiny Udogie, and Brennan Johnson, will miss the game through injury.
Dominic Solanke is also set to miss the next six weeks with a knee injury, further compounding the situation.
If Sarr and Bissouma fail to recover, Postecoglou is likely to stick with the midfield trio that played midweek. Richarlison is expected to lead the line for the first time in a Premier League game this season, while 17-year-old Mikey Moore may come on from the bench.
Tottenham Predicted XI
(4-3-3): Kinsky; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Reguilon; Bentancur, Bergvall, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Richarlison.
