Tottenham ready to make attacker offer – fans should be delighted

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer versatile attacker Son Heung-min a new contract, according to the London Evening Standard.

Spurs are expected to attempt to extend the deals of a host of key players in the near future, with the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and obviously Toby Alderweireld reportedly set for new offers.

While this core of the Tottenham side all deserve new-and-improved terms in North London, securing Son’s future by prolonged his current deal would be canny business by Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The South Korean has been an under-rated and reliable player in the Spurs side since moving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, with the attacker operating in a number of different positions for the club.

While the likes of Kane and Alli inevitably hog the limelight and headlines, Son has scored and created crucial goals for Tottenham over recent years.

While the versatile forward still may have more than two years to run on his current deal, rewarding him with improved terms and a longer contract makes sound sense for Spurs.

Despite the fact that Erik Lamela has returned to fitness and Lucas Moura has been signed, Son remains a critical player for Tottenham and someone Pochettino clearly trusts.

With Spurs needing to keep the current squad together and the players feeling valued and motivated, Son penning a new deal at the club would be something that evokes delight on the terraces.
