Tottenham Hotspur are ready to cash in on Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, with Galatasaray stepping up their pursuit in a deal worth €30 million, according to journalist Hikmet Pinarbas.
Talks have advanced rapidly in recent days, with the Turkish champions identifying the ‘impressive’ 23-year-old as their top priority to bolster their engine room.
Crucially, the Turkish giants have signalled their willingness to meet Tottenham’s €30m price tag, proposing an instalment-based payment schedule that satisfies Spurs’ financial parameters.
For Spurs, green-lighting the deal would generate immediate funds and open up space on the wage bill, supporting their broader squad overhaul under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Sarr, for his part, is open to the transfer. Eager for guaranteed playing time and a fresh challenge, the Senegal international is attracted by Galatasaray’s vision and the prospect of regular starts, something that has eluded him in North London.
However, the transfer hinges on Galatasaray first facilitating Mario Lemina’s departure to free up a foreign player slot and balance the wage budget.
With Lemina’s representatives making clear he is open to a move, Galatasaray are pushing to resolve his future quickly.
Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz in 2021 as a highly rated prospect, but despite flashes of quality, he has struggled for consistent opportunities amid increasing competition in the Spurs midfield.
With personal terms not expected to pose an obstacle, Sarr could be set for a move to Istanbul if things proceed as planned.
The Senegalese has also been linked with Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahli, although it is unclear whether he is open to moving to the Middle East at this stage of his career.
