Tottenham send heartfelt message to Igor Tudor after his father’s passing

Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement sympathising with interim manager Igor Tudor, who lost his father, Mario, over the weekend.

Tudor was unable to carry out his media duties following Tottenham’s 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Assistant coach Bruno Saltor stepped in to speak on behalf of the team. He refrained from offering any details on Tudor’s situation, explaining only that the Croatian was dealing with a serious family matter.

The full details became clear a day later, when Tudor’s former employers, Juventus, confirmed the passing of his father and offered their support.

It is believed Tudor received the heartbreaking news shortly after the final whistle against Forest.

Saltor described it as a deeply difficult moment, adding that the staff are focused on supporting their manager in any way possible.

Tottenham later released a statement expressing their condolences, making it clear that the entire club stands with Tudor and his family during this time.

A statement by Tottenham on Monday read: “Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Igor Tudor’s father, Mario.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Igor and his family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Tottenham’s battle for survival hits new low

While emotions are running high off the pitch, the situation on it remains just as serious.

The defeat to Forest has left Tottenham hovering just above the relegation zone, increasing fears of a drop that would be their first since 1977.

Tottenham’s form offers little hope of a turnaround, with Tudor’s side yet to register their first Premier League victory in 2026.

Spurs captain Cristian Romero has promised to put “200%” into Tottenham’s seven remaining “finals” to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Tottenham are now winless in their last 13 Premier League games, but have three weeks to prepare for their next outing against Sunderland on April 12.

“It’s a difficult day for everyone, but the first thing is to speak about the fans,” Romero said. “Thank you for today and always staying with us.

“It’s not easy, but the most important thing is to get to the national team and back here for the last seven finals.

“I promise [to] put 200% in every one and for me it is not easy, but we have to stay all together. It’s a bad day yeah, but we will go again.”
