Tottenham set to open talks for Eberechi Eze

Tottenham are set to return to the negotiating table for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, per Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs are ready to open talks for the 27-year-old, who is keen on the move to North London.

Tottenham need an attacking midfielder with James Maddison sidelined for a chunk of the 2025/26 campaign. Dejan Kulusevski is also poised to miss the start of the season.

Spurs tried to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, but it did not work out, forcing the club to turn their radar to Eze. The England international would be a stellar addition.

Eze bagged 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances for Palace as they won the FA Cup title last season.

Palace boss lauded Eze as ‘an unbelievable finisher’. He has been a pivotal player for the Eagles.

There are reports that his £68 million release clause is still active. Even if the clause is out of the way, Tottenham will still have to cough up a massive sum to snap him up.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been showing interest in his services and could provide a stern challenge for Eze’s services.

Tottenham cannot afford to miss out on Eze.

Not only is he a like-for-like replacement for Maddison during his absence, but his versatility means he can seamlessly shift to the left flank when Maddison returns.

Proven in the Premier League and still in his prime, Eze offers the creativity, goal threat, and unpredictability Spurs urgently need.

With Arsenal circling, this is a transfer Tottenham must get over the line before it’s too late.

The 2025/26 Premier League season is inching closer, and Spurs need all the help they can get to bounce back from last season’s disappointing finish.

Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus, and Mathys Tel have been solid additions to the ranks.

However, after the capitulation in the UEFA Super Cup final versus Paris Saint-Germain, Spurs need more reinforcement.
