Tottenham should sign Joao Palhinha and Kim Min-jae this summer – View

The 2025 summer transfer window will be pivotal for Tottenham Hotspur as the North London club looks to bounce back from this disastrous 2024/25 campaign.

Spurs must bolster the roster and shift many players. Two areas where Tottenham need reinforcement are the defensive midfield and centre-back positions.

The Tottenham engine room lacks steel and a proper defensive anchor to screen the defence while snuffing out danger. It is one of the many reasons the team has struggled.

The backline could also use strengthening, with Cristian Romero consistently linked with a move to Spain and partner in crime Micky van de Ven being quite injury-prone.

Tottenham must fill these positions with quality to compete at the top of the Premier League pile next season, and their solution could lie in Germany, where Bayern Munich have two exciting options.

Bayern plan to let go of former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer. He has not earned the trust of manager Vincent Kompany.

Bayern are also not closing the door to selling defender Kim Min-jae, whose time in Germany has not been as successful as his tenure in Italy. In our view, Tottenham should be at the front of the queue for both men.

Palhinha, who is up for Sale this summer and eyeing a Premier League return, is the destroyer Tottenham desperately miss.

The former Fulham star made 152 tackles last term, winning 75, surpassing his 148 tackles in his 2022/23 debut campaign. In both seasons, he recorded the most tackles in the Premier League.

Tottenham need his aggression and raw ability to win the ball back. The Portuguese enforcer cannot show his prowess at Bayern, but Spurs play the type of football that will allow his skillset to shine.

The same goes for Min-jae, whose athleticism and speed better suit Tottenham. The South Korean will settle nicely at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his national team captain, Son Heung-min and starlet Yang Min-Hyeok.

Securing Palhinha and Min-jae would be a coup for Spurs. These are two ready-made players with Premier League pedigree and Champions League experience.

For a team that has too often lacked grit, leadership, and defensive organisation, this duo could transform the Tottenham spine and bring much-needed balance.

Also, these signings signal intent. Tottenham must show ambition to match the expectations of the fans, especially after this underwhelming season.
