Tottenham suffer massive injury blow as reporter claims James Maddison is out for the season

Tottenham Hotspur remain winless in their last four Premier League games after the North Londoners drew with West Ham United yesterday.

Spurs have recorded one measly win in their last nine league games in a diabolical 2024/25 campaign.

Even winning the Europa League might not be enough to cover the abysmal league showing, but it will go a long way to assuaging fan anger.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, there is even more bad news ahead of a crucial week where they must get past Bodo/Glimt.

Journalist Alex Crook reports James Maddison is out for the season. Per his tweet, his knee injury is significant, with scan results expected within 24 hours.

Maddison scored as Spurs claimed a first-leg 3-1 Europa League semi-final win over Bodo/Glimt.

However, the England international was forced off in the second half and missed the draw against West Ham.

Speaking after the match at the London Stadium, manager Ange Postecoglou admitted the outlook was bleak.

“It does not look great, but we are just waiting for further information,” he said (via the BBC). “We will hopefully get some clarity on Monday. It does not look promising, but I will just wait and see.”

Postecoglou hailed Maddison as a top player after his showing and winner in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in February.

Maddison’s potential absence is a massive blow ahead of the second leg in Norway on Thursday as Spurs seek to secure a place in the Europa League final.

The 27-year-old has been a creative lynchpin this season, and any long-term absence would be felt in both domestic and European competitions.

Dejan Kulusevski must step up to the plate – View

Tottenham need a creative presence in the engine room, and Dejan Kulusevski is the go-to candidate to replace Maddison.

The 25-year-old has not been at his finest since returning from injury, but he needs to take the bull by the horns in the remaining games.

Kulusevski had another subpar showing versus West Ham but needs to find his groove quickly as Spurs approach this pivotal game.
