Tottenham team news: Mourinho gives Son update ahead of Man United game, Vinicius role stated

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action on Sunday with a tricky away day at Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho returning to face his former club Manchester United.

Spurs have had an intense run of fixtures in recent weeks, with the club prevailing in both the Carabao Cup and Europa League, while maintained their league responsibilities.

Tottenham dispatched Israeli side Maccabi Haifa 7-2 on Thursday night and Mourinho will have to switch up his side to keep legs fresh against United.

With the international break on the horizon, Spurs fans will hope a favourable result can continue the club’s recent momentum.

Tottenham boss Mourinho has stated that key attacker Son Heung-min, who has been on the sidelines through injury of late, could yet make a surprise appearance at Old Trafford.

“I don’t want to lie to you and say he doesn’t play and Sunday he’s there,” he told the Spurs official website.

“At the same time I don’t want to say he plays and then he doesn’t. So let’s wait and see, in this moment, I honestly don’t know.”

Elsewhere, Tottenham fans will not get a glimpse of Gareth Bale back in a Lilywhites shirt just yet, with BBC Sport stating the superstar is not yet fit to feature.

The report also suggests key Spurs playmaker Giovani Lo Celso is a doubt due to an unspecified injury.

Finally, the Manchester Evening Times states that new striker signing Carlos Vinicius has travelled with the group and could be involved in some capacity.

Mourinho will be motivated to get a positive result against his former club, with victory potentially powering Tottenham towards the Premier League’s top four.
