Tottenham to resist any offers for Man City target Destiny Udogie

The 2025 summer transfer window is shaping up to be busy for Tottenham Hotspur as the club looks to avoid a repeat of the abysmal 2024/25 season.

Apart from the surgery the Spurs hierarchy must perform on the roster, Tottenham players are reportedly attracting interest from European clubs.

Tottenham defender Cristiano Romero is a target for Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid this summer as the Spanish giants plan to reinforce their rearguards.

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven’s agent, Jose Fortes, has also touted his client as the solution to Real Madrid’s defensive woes.

Elsewhere, Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie is seemingly of interest to Manchester City. The Premier League champions do not have a recognised left-back on their team, hence their interest in the Spurs star.

However, according to The Mirror, Tottenham will likely reject any approach for Udogie this summer. Spurs have no intention of selling the 22-year-old, who remains highly rated within the club despite an injury-hit season.

Udogie still has four years remaining on his contract, and prising him away from Tottenham would be a massive challenge, particularly with chairman Daniel Levy, a famously tough negotiator, at the helm.

As it stands, a move appears highly unlikely. Udogie is focused on regaining full fitness and returning to top form for Spurs next season.

Tottenham should keep Udogie and sign a reliable alternative – View

Tottenham must pull out all the stops to keep Udogie this summer. He was one of the better players last season. Injuries blighted his 2024/25 campaign, but he should return ready to deliver the goods for Spurs next term.

However, Tottenham need a reliable back-up for Udogie. Djed Spence has provided competition at left-back, but he should be on the right with Pedro Porro, his natural position.

Spurs should get a left-back, perhaps someone who can also cover the left-centre-back role. Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato can fill both positions seamlessly.

Tottenham have enjoyed success with buys from the Eredivisie giants like Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen. They should repeat the trick with the highly rated Hato.
