Tottenham Hotspur have completed deals for Mohammed Kudus and Kota Takai this summer, but Spurs are not done yet.
The North Londoners want to add a centre-back to the rearguard as the club looks to bounce back from a disappointing 17th place Premier League finish last term.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham “retain an interest in Marc Guehi”, who has a year left on his deal.
Spurs launched a bid to sign Guehi in January, but the Eagles rejected it. They appear ready again to rival Liverpool for the England international.
Tottenham already have centre-backs like Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin, Kevin Danso, and Micky van de Ven on the books. Young talents Takai and Luka Vuskovic are waiting in the wings.
However, that has not stopped Spurs from targeting a new centre-half perhaps in anticipation of Romero’s departure. He has concrete interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Per the report, Tottenham shortlisted Bournemouth ace Ilya Zabarnyi, but Paris Saint-Germain are far ahead in the race for his signature. They are now eyeing Guehi.
The Crystal Palace ace is poised to move this summer, but his next destination remains unclear. The former Chelsea star is an ‘outstanding player’ and would bolster any Premier League side.
But beating Liverpool to his signature will take some doing. The Reds have been spending heavily, reinforcing their squad and want to add Guehi to their roster.
To avoid getting stuck in a bidding war with the Premier League champions, Spurs should consider a swoop for Brentford ace Nathan Collins (View).
The 24-year-old played a central role under new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank at Brentford. He will be a massive coup for the Dane in North London.
Per the Premier League website, he led the league in blocks with 57 last season.
He also won 63% of his aerial and 58% of his ground duels, a testament to his no-nonsense, commanding presence in the heart of defence.
None of the top six Premier League clubs are sounding out Collins right now, which makes him the perfect target for Tottenham.
