Tottenham transfer opportunity: Star says ‘time here coming to an end’

Tottenham Hotspur look set to have an exciting close to the January transfer window, as talk of Lucas Moura’s potential move to North London reaches a crescendo.

While the Brazilian’s impending arrival will be a massive boost for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, the recent comments of one his international compatriots should be of real interest to Spurs.

Monaco star Fabinho, who has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League, has stated that he is ready to make a move away from the Principality outfit – which should put Tottenham on alert.

“If a move to a new league or a club with a bigger structure and bigger expectations, I would be interested,” the Brazilian told Lance in his homeland.

”My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end.”

While speculation in the press linking Fabinho to English football has rarely mentioned Tottenham as a suitor, the North London club would be advised to change this.

The 24-year-old has all the attributes that Pochettino asks for in his players at Spurs – he is versatile, hard-working, tactical aware and very capable in possession.

Fabinho has played a lot of his football at right-back, but is equally and perhaps more adept in central midfield and can play as a centre-half.

With Eric Dier’s versatility being a major asset for Tottenham, adding another international-calibre star to offer cover in a number of positions would be a shrewd move by Spurs.

While time is running down on the January transfer window, Pochettino and the club should be watching Fabinho very closely and given his latest comments, a summer move would be an excellent decision.

  1. When ever we hear that Spurs are after a certain type of player no one believes it anymore and if we do start negotiations it will always be on the 11th hour because that is how Levy works. Hopefully, one of these days we have someone else buying the players we want and getting the business done quickly and quietly as we use to in the old days. We sick and tired of MrLevy show boating every time!
