Tottenham want £100m to sell Van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur will demand in excess of £100 million for defender Micky van de Ven, according to talkSPORT.

The Spurs ace has been in the news this week with reports claiming Liverpool are keenly interested in his services.

However, Tottenham will fight tooth and nail to keep the Dutchman. They are prepared to demand an exorbitant sum to stave off interest.

Van de Ven is under contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2029, and they hold all the leverage even if he asks to leave.

He has been a terrific servant since joining the club in 2023, making 80 appearances. This term, he has featured 29 times, bagging six goals and an assist.

Injuries have blighted his time in North London, but he is one of the best in England when he is fit and firing.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank is a massive fan. The manager said (via Sky Sports), “Micky’s an excellent player; he’s a fantastic ambassador for this club.”

Tottenham’s resolve is likely to be tested to the limit this summer. Elite centre-backs with Van de Ven’s pace, power and Premier League pedigree are rare.

Liverpool’s reported interest may not be the last to surface if he finishes the season strongly.

Spurs will be desperate to build around him, especially given how transformative he is when fit, but modern transfer windows are unforgiving when clubs come calling with serious money.

If they succeed in keeping Van de Ven, it sends a strong message about ambition and stability.

And if a bidder is willing to push beyond the £100m mark, it would represent a massive return on their investment and provide significant funds to strengthen multiple areas of the squad.

Either way, Spurs hold the cards and ensuring any outcome works decisively in their favour will be one of the club’s biggest tests of the summer.
