Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Matthijs De Ligt from Ajax this summer, according to a report in the London Evening Standard.
The 18-year-old has been earning rave reviews across Europe and is wanted by many of the top clubs across the continent.
As such, Ajax have slapped a huge price tag of over £50million on him, however, the fee is not thought to have put Spurs off about bringing him to White Hart Lane.
Because of the interest being shown in him, the north London outfit are prepared to make an offer quickly as they try to jump to the front of the queue for the teenage sensation.
De Ligt has allegedly told Ajax that he would like to leave the Amsterdam Arena this summer as the interest in him continues to mount.
The Dutchman has been regarded as one of the most talented footballers in world football following his performances for his club and has earned a spot in his national team.
The 18-year-old is thought to be an ideal replacement for Toby Alderweireld, with the Belgium international expected to depart White Hart Lane this summer, leaving Mauricio Pochettino a cause for concern.
Spurs and Ajax are no strangers to making deals between the two clubs, with the north London signing some of their best players from the Dutch outfit.
Jan Vertonghen came from the Holland capital in 2012, whilst Christian Eriksen also arrived a year later.
Last summer, Tottenham signed Davinson Sanchez from Ajax for their record fee of £42million, however, it looks as though they will need to break that once again to bring his former defensive partner to the Premier League.
