Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has four main transfer targets this summer including Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to The London Evening Standard.
Spurs are yet to add to their playing squad this summer and now only have a fortnight left before the transfer window closes.
The capital city newspaper has listed the four players that are in Pochettino’s sights, as Tottenham look to add strength in depth to their squad.
Two are commonly mentioned names – Jack Grealish and Anthony Martial – with it surely more likely that the Aston Villa man could end up at Spurs than the Manchester United man.
With speculation over Toby Alderweireld’s Tottenham future, Ajax centre-half Matthijs de Ligt is the next name on the list.
On the face of it, the young Dutch defender would be a shrewd addition, but filling Alderweireld’s boots will take some doing for whoever is handed the task.
The report suggests that Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Lascelles, who performed well in Newcastle’s return to the Premier League last season.
It states that a fee in excess of £50 million would be needed to land the Englishman – surely something Daniel Levy would never agree to.
Landing De Ligt and Grealish would certainly be a good start.
However, with United unlikely to sell Martial to Tottenham and Lascelles’ price tag exorbitant, other targets need to be identified.
